What is Chiropractic?
Chiropractic is a health care discipline and profession that emphasizes diagnosis, treatment and prevention of mechanical disorders of the musculoskeletal system especially the spine, with the understanding that these disorders affect general health via the nervous system. We believe that good spinal health doesn't just mean being pain free, we like to see our patients excel in both everyday life and sports or hobbies that require peak physical condition.
What is a Chiropractic Adjustment?
A chiropractic adjustment is a specific force in a precise direction, applied to a joint that is fixated, “locked up”, or not moving properly. This improves the motion of the joint, helping the joints to gradually regain more normal motion and function. With happier and healthier joints, your spine and spinal nerves function better, improving your health and wellbeing.

What education do Chiropractors have?
Chiropractic training in Australia involves five years of University level study. These University courses are of similar length and depth as medical courses, but focus on promoting healthier lifestyles via better body function, rather than on drugs and surgery. Accordingly, chiropractic education involves a special emphasis on anatomy, physiology, pathology, neurology, biomechanics, X-rays, spinal adjusting techniques and related subjects. A chiropractor’s education never ends! After entering practice, most Chiropractors attend yearly professional development courses and seminars to upgrade and improve their skills and to stay current on the latest scientific research.
Can I be adjusted if I'm pregnant?
In a word: YES. Chiropractic care during pregnancy is safe for both mother and fetus. Spinal adjustments are especially gentle during pregnancy as far less force is required to correct misalignments. This is due to the increase in hormones causing significant muscle and ligamentous relaxation. Many mothers to be experience back pain and other discomforts during pregnancy as the growth of your baby and hormonal changes can affect the spinal joints and surrounding tissues. Chiropractic care can mean a less stressful pregnancy and a more comfortable delivery.
Is Chiropractic appropriate for infants and children?
Adjustments to newborn and children's' spines differ from those given to the adult spine and are very gentle, and can greatly improve their health and comfort. Since birth can result in significant trauma to the newborn, especially their delicate necks, many parents are choosing to have their newborns checked by a Chiropractor. Remember pain is a very poor indicator in children as their pain receptors and nervous system is not fully developed until the age of 18!
Is Chiropractic care appropriate for those aged over 55?
These days the over 50 community is probably more active than the younger community! So more and more people are seeking the help of a Chiropractor to naturally improve the function and health of their body. Many people report improved mobility, energy and vitality, as well as improvements to some long standing chronic conditions or arthritic problems. Your Chiropractor can modify their adjustments to suit your spine in all phases of your life!
